AMANDA ZOLOTO (SHE/HER), MSW

I came to Practical Magic in my 40s after non-profit work, raising kids, and major life changes. I have navigated my own childhood trauma, grief, financial instability, parenting, marital strife/divorce, and my emergence as a queer and neurodivergent adult. These deeply exfoliating experiences allow me to hold kind, attuned, and judgment-free space for you as you navigate your own unfolding path.

I love supporting my clients in discovering the brightest versions of themselves. While therapy can sometimes feel like a warm bath and other times feel like an ice plunge, I strive to be a grounding presence regardless of where you are. I offer strengths-based insight in a consistent, nurturing, and nourishing space where you can stretch, grow, and thrive. I invite you to raise issues that may have previously felt off-limits in your relationship with yourself, with others, or with your therapeutic work, without fear that you will necessarily have to change behaviors, habits, or relationships. If it’s on your mind, it’s probably ripe for exploration, but you can be assured that you are the one who knows what’s best for you.

My trauma-informed clinical work also acknowledges the heavy impact of the systems at play in our lives: racism,  colonization, white supremacy, capitalism, patriarchy, anti-queerness, anti-fatness, and ableism must be acknowledged as complex and pervasive influences on our institutions and therefore on our individual and collective healing. Using a client-centered, body-neutral approach, I incorporate solutions-focused therapies, systems theories, IFS/Somatic Parts Work,  mindfulness, and meditative techniques. I have been trained in the Neurosequential Model of Therapeutics, which offers evidence-based insight into the emotionally regulating power of our relationships and the impact of trauma on the developing brain.. I integrate both traditional and non-traditional spiritual concepts into the work as it fits the client. I work with clients on issues of living with marginalized identities, trauma occurring at all ages, parenting (including fertility issues, pregnancy loss, adoption, and childhood neurodivergence), grief and loss, adult neurodivergence, gender and sexuality, family estrangement, addiction, stigmatizing mental health diagnoses, relationship challenges, and much more. I invite you to reach out to me if this kind of work feels like a fit for you.
